INTRODUCTION - A GLORIOUS HISTORY :

THE ALL – INDIA COMMERCIAL ASSOCIATION was founded in the Year, 1934 at Lahore by public-spirited social figures and educationists viz. Dewan Bahadur Raja Narendra Nath, R. B. Janaki Dass Kapoor, Dr. F. C. Soni, Prof. P. C. Kalhan and others with a view to promote the education of commerce.

The methodology followed was the impart of education in commerce and its allied fields, to prescribe Systems and Methods, set standards of Education, Regulate the Studies of Commerce and to conduct Courses and Education in Commerce for Students and to direct the young energies of the Nation towards productive and constructive work.

In the Year 1940, The All – India Commercial Association founded the Commercial University at Lahore as a University to prescribe Systems and Methods, set standards of Education, Regulate the Studies of Commerce and to conduct Courses and Education in Commerce for the Students and to direct the young energies of the Nation towards productive and constructive work.

These Education Stalwarts foresaw the future progress of commerce and founded the Association to meet the Educational necessities of the future progressive economies of the world by preparing properly educated commerce – oriented youth to face the challenge posed by increasing industrialization all over the world.  Equipping the future economy of Free-India with duly educated and trained men of Commerce to independently handle the intricacies of the economic problems was the immediate objective which was later extended to other countries and other free Nations of the world by way of extension of activities of the University in various other countries viz. The U. K. , U.S.A., Canada., Arab and Gulf countries, the African Countries, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Sri Lanka and such other neighboring countries as well. 

In 1940, The A – I. C. A. founded the Commercial University at Lahore for the impart of education in Commerce with a view to provide for the future independent Indian economy with trained commerce personnel to man the economy of the country after the impending exodus of the british from India.

In 1947, by gazette notification, The All – India Commercial Association and its bodies associates / affiliates including Commercial University Limited shifted their headquarters from Lahore to Delhi where they continued their educational activities and Programs in association and collaboration.

The First Convocation was held at Delhi in Ihe year 1949 and was presided over by His Excellency C. Rajgopalachari, the then and the last Governor General of India.

After the sudden demise of Dr. F. C. Soni, Registrar in 1965, Mr. J. K. Soni was appointed as Registrar.

Presently, Commercial University Limited has over 10 Centers in different cities and states of the country and also has its representation in various countries viz. U. K., U. S. A., Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Nigeria and the Gulf Countries, etc.

The All India Commercial Association founded the Commercial University in 1940 at Lahore and was its Founder Body and Central Controlling Board.  In 1947, The A – I. C. A. and Commercial University shifted to New Delhi in the wake of partition of the country.  In 1949, Commercial University was established as Commercial University Limited and incorporated under Central Act VII of 1913.  The A – I. C. A. continued as its founder body and Central Controlling Board. 

In 1976, The A – I. C. A. founded the Institute of Business Administration and Management – IBAM in Delhi.  In 1978, the IBAM Company was incorporated under Sec. 25 of the Indian Companies Act, 1956.  The A – I. C. A. continued as its founder body and Central Controlling Board.

In 1997, The IBAM Delhi Society was got registered and took over certain activities of the IBAM Company as a going concern.  The A – I. C. A. continued as its founder body and Central Controlling Board.

In 1997, the M. B. A. Degree Course conducted by the IBAM DELHI SOCIETY through Distance Education mode under the auspices Guru Ghasidas University, Bilaspur was recognized by The All India Council for Technical Education, Govt. of India. 

In 1998, the afore-said M. B. A. Degree Course was Specially approved by the Director General, Military Training for Defence Officers.

In 2002, the IBAM DELHI SOCIETY along with THE ALL – INDIA COMMERCIAL ASSOCIATION submitted a proposal to the State Government of Chhattisgarh for establishment of a University under the name and style of “ Commercial University “ in the state of Chhattisgarh.  For the purpose, the IBAM, Delhi and The A – I. C. A. formed another Society in Raipur, Chhattisgarh under the name and style of “Institute of Business Administration and Management, Society “ .  The said Society – IBAM, RAIPUR – pursued the proposal with the said Government and Gazette notification was issued by the Govt. of Chhattisgarh notifying the establishment of “ Commercial University “ in Raipur, C. G..  However, in 2003, the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India struck down the section of the Chhattisgarh Private Universities Act and all universities, including Commercial University – established under the said Act were de-constituted.

In 2005, the State Govt. passed another Act for the Establishment of Private Universities in Chhattisgarh taking into consideration the directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India.  The IBAM again submitted its proposal for formation of a university in Raipur, Chhattisgarh in 2006.

In June, 2008, the State Govt. of Chhattisgarh has now issued a Letter of Intent permitting the IBAM, Raipur to establish a Private University under the name and style of “ Commercial University “ in Raipur, Chhattisgarh.

Presently, THE A – I. C. A., The IBAM DELHI and THE IBAM SOCIETY, RAIPUR are jointly engaged in establishing Commercial University in Raipur in accordance with the Act, the Rules and Regulations and Directives of the State Govt. of Chhattisgarh.

The A – I. C. A. is the Central Controlling Board of all these bodies.
